Synopsis

Buku ini merupakan seri pertama dari Mencari Indonesia yang akan direncanakan terdiri dari lima buku. Buku ini juga merupakan edisi revisi dari versi originalnya yang telah terbit pada tahun 2007 lewat kerja sama LIPI Press dan Yayasan Pustaka Obor Indonesia. Seri pertama ini berisi tulisan-tulisan yang mengupas berbagai isu sosial, ekonomi, politik, dan budaya yang muncul setelah berakhirnya rezim Orde Baru. Dalam buku ini diperkenalkan untuk pertama kali konsep demografi politik sebagai sebuah cabang dari disiplin ilmu demografi, khususnya demografi sosial di Indonesia. Hampir keseluruhan bab dalam buku ini merupakan hasil dari penelitian yang dilakukan oleh penulis. Sebagai sebuah buku yang ingin menawarkan perspektif baru dalam kajian ilmu-ilmu sosial dan kemanusiaan, buku ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi peningkatan kualitas dan pengembangan wawasan kalangan peneliti dan akademisi yang menaruh minat pada dinamika sosial dan politik di Indonesia. Buku ini juga diharapkan dapat menjadi bacaan mereka yang tidak berasal dari kalangan akademis, seperti para pekerja dan aktifis sosial, jurnalis dan masyarakat pada umumnya.

Author Biography

Riwanto Tirtosudarmo, BRIN

Riwanto Tirtosudarmo memperoleh gelar sarjana dari Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta, pada tahun 1979, dan gelar doktor dalam bidang demografi sosial dari Research School of Social Sciences, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, pada tahun 1990. Dilahirkan di Tegal, Jawa Tengah, pada tahun 1952, dan mulai bekerja di Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI) sejak tahun 1980.
Tahun 1980–1986 sebagai peneliti di Pusat Penelitian Penduduk, Lembaga Ekonomi dan Kemasyarakatan Nasional (Leknas-LIPI); tahun 1986–1998 di Pusat Penelitian Kependudukan dan Ketenagakerjaan (PPT-LIPI); tahun 1998 hingga pensiun tahun 2017 di Pusat Penelitian Kemasyarakatan dan Kebudayaan (PMB-LIPI). Semenjak pensiun ia mendedikasikan diri sebagai peneliti sosial independen.
