Synopsis

Indonesia merupakan salah satu pusat keberagaman pisang dunia, baik pisang liar maupun pisang budi daya. Dari berbagai jenis pisang yang ada, hanya beberapa yang dibudidayakan secara agro-industri untuk produksi dan komersial. Umumnya, pisang budi daya untuk konsumsi lokal berasal dari sejumlah varietas yang disesuaikan dengan kondisi dan selera masyarakat setempat. Kelestarian keberagaman jenis pisang yang ada dan yang tersebar di seluruh kawasan Nusantara menjadi penting untuk selalu dijaga sambil terus dikembangkan potensi serta pemanfaatannya. Buku ini mendeskripsikan 137 aksesi Pisang (Musa spp., Musaceae) yang terdiri atas hasil eksplorasi, koleksi, dan hasil pemuliaan melalui induksi poliploidi dan persilangan. Setiap aksesi tidak hanya dilengkapi dengan data paspor, tetapi juga data karakter morfotaksonomi pisang dan informasi tambahan lainnya, seperti gambar/foto beberapa karakter penting.  Buku ini sangat tepat digunakan sebagai panduan pengenalan varietas liar, varietas hasil pemuliaan, dan kultivar pisang asli Indonesia. Selain itu, buku ini dapat menjadi referensi bagi mereka yang akan mempelajari dan meneliti keanekaragaman pisang di Indonesia. Semoga buku ini dapat membantu pihak-pihak yang ingin mempelajari dan memanfaatkan sumber daya hayati pisang.
